Tencent's social network platform WeChat is one of the winners during the pandemic, benefitted from the traffic boost due to the stay-at home orders. WeChat's global in-app purchase revenue surged to nearly 71.4 million U.S. dollars as of December 2023. The Chinese equivalent of WhatsApp offers a wide range of functions outside of messaging, such as mobile payment and e-commerce.
