About a third of respondents were happy with the current solution for funding TVP (Telewizja Polska) in 2020 - from advertising and RTV subscriptions. Over 40 percent thought it should be financed exclusively from advertising.
The Polish government has been working on an amendment to the act on subscription fees, providing compensation to public media for lost subscription revenue. Currently, public media - including TVP - are financed primarily from advertising and RTV subscriptions. RTV subscription should be paid by owners of radio and television sets; however, in reality, only about half of households pay this fee.
