Xigua Video, one of the most popular video sharing apps in China, was reported to have 175 million monthly active users across the country in December 2022. ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, initially launched Xigua Video as Toutiao Video in 2016 to focus on longer-form user-generated content. The platform has rebranded itself as a mid-range video site streaming professionally-made videos with a lenghth between one and 30 minutes.
