Movie genres ranked by average box office revenue in the U.S. & Canada 1995-2022
Between 1995 and early-2023, an adventure movie grossed, on average, 57.17 million U.S. dollars at the North American box office – a term that excludes Mexico and includes Canada and the United States. The box office revenue of a documentary stood at an average of little more than a million dollars. Overall, consumer spending on movie tickets in the U.S. decreased by 16 percent in 2021.
