For young adults across the United States, television is on the path to extinction while streaming has gotten mainstream. That's according to polling conducted by Pew Research who found that 6 out of 10 young Americans aged 18 to 29 use an online streaming service as their primary means of watching television.
A cable or satellite subscription is the favored method of TV consumption among most other U.S. adults, particularly those in the 50-64 and 65+ age brackets. Among U.S. adults in general, 59 percent primarily watch television over cable or satellite while 28 percent stream and nine percent rely on a digital antenna.
