Sales growth after coronavirus outbreak France in February 24 to March 22, 2020

The statistic shows the percentage of growth of physical and online sales after the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in France during the last week of February until March 2020.
Physical stores, especially supermarkets and local outlets located in the city had positive end results (plus eight percent).
E-commerce was even more dynamic, where a part of the households made more use of online orders in order to avoid large supermarkets and crowding with other consumers: the drive saw its growth largely accelerated (13 percent more sales than last year), but it is the home delivery (pure players and mass distribution) which had the best progression that week, with almost 74 percent increase compared to the same week in 2019. The following week, it seemed that purchases continued to grow on all platforms, except for home delivery which experienced a drop of around 1.5 percent.
During the week of 16 to 22 of March, 2020, home delivery crossed the 90 percent line, being the category with the biggest increase in commerce activity.
