Whether it be at work, in an office, going to concerts or sports events, or even trying on clothes, the metaverse is set to provide a space for endless, interconnected virtual communities using virtual reality (VR) headsets, augmented reality (AR) glasses, smartphone apps, or other devices. Already, several companies including Meta, Microsoft, Roblox, and Epic are investing in their versions of the metaverse. In addition, advancements in AR/VR chip technology will provide mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, as well as a range of wearables, the ability to deliver immersive audio and visuals in a way previously unimaginable. The U.S. chip designer, Qualcomm, is a notable leader in this field.
