First-run movie consumption on VOD platforms during the pandemic U.S. 2020-2021
A survey revealed that more and more consumers pay to watch premium video-on-demand films that skipped the cinemas because of the coronavirus outbreak. Due to the pandemic and the following theater closures, movie studios were forced to release their content on streaming services for the first time rather than in cinemas.
