Due to the impact of coronavirus, China's total media ad spending fell by 11.6 percent in 2020 but bounced back in 2021. Television and out-of-home advertising were the only medium reporting positive ad spending growth.

Hong Kong is excluded in the calculations. The ad spending includes internet, magazines, newspapers, out-of-home (including cinema ads, elevator LCD and poster ads), radio and TV.
