According to a 2020 survey, three-quarters of Generation Z TikTok users in the United States felt that the social video platform was a useful tool for keeping up to date with the news. Additionally, 77 percent reported that TikTok helped them to learn about social justice and politics, and 94 percent said the platform generated meaningful action for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.
